Gap Medics is a proud partner of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). As the oldest and largest US organization of its kind, AMSA provides services and benefits to pre-medical students all over the country.
Three times a year we invite one exemplary member of AMSA to join us on a two-week pre-medical shadowing program abroad in the Dominican Republic or Africa for free. These scholarships are based upon merit and creativity and take aspiring doctors behind the scenes of their future careers. The scholarships are open to all pre-medical AMSA members.
The scholarship covers the registration fee and cost of a two-week premedical placement in either the Dominican Republic or Africa – a value of over $2400.
To become eligible for the scholarship, you will need to register for a two-week program in the Dominican Republic or Africa. As with our regular programs, you will be required to follow our pricing schedule. If you are offered a scholarship, you will have the registration fee and any money paid toward the program cost refunded in full. However, you will need to be prepared to fund your program independently.

Gap Medics programs are not service opportunities themselves, but shadowing placements that offer pre-health students the opportunity to gain understanding of global health, health professions, and clinical environments abroad.
