It’s always a tricky and hotly disputed subject when you try to place universities or any educational establishment into rankings. There are so many variables to consider that it becomes almost an impossible task to place a number on the effectiveness of each institution.

In America, U.S News has become synonymous with the annual university rankings despite the controversy and they are always eagerly anticipated by both current and prospective medical students.

The criteria that are used for scoring the med schools includes expert opinions and the quality of the courses offered, statistical analysis of the schools teaching staff, research and students alongside surveys of over 1,200 programmes and over 12,000 academics and professionals.

The med school rankings are split into two categories, The rankings for the best American med schools for research and the rankings for the best med schools for primary care.
