Dundee University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing are the medical arms of The University of Dundee or the Dundee University. The institution was founded in 1881. For a major portion of its initial existence, it was a segment of the University of St Andrews. Post some significant expansion, the University became was turned into an independent entity in 1967. However, it retained most of its governance structure and ancient heritage. Today, the University of Dundee and its medical faculty are world-renowned and have a highly-reputed research centre.

The University campus is located in the Royal Burgh of Dundee which stands on the eastern coast of the Scotland Lowlands. The main campus is situated in the West End of Dundee. This also houses the Dundee Dental Hospital and School and the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. The University also has various additional facilities at the Ninewalls Hospital. This houses its School of medicine and the Perth Royal Infirmary. The school of Nursing and Midwifery is also situated here. 

Courses Offered

Medicine 

  Students on ward rounds at the Regional Hospital Undergraduate medical education at the Dundee University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing is of international repute and the college is known for its innovation and excellence. Postgraduate Courses

There are also numerous opportunities for the postgraduate students at the Dundee University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. There are Masters and Doctoral courses. All these courses are built in a very scalable and flexible manner. They allow the participants to build up their credits towards diplomas, certificates as well as for their master’s qualifications. In addition to all of these facilities, the college also offers various distance learning opportunities.

Dentistry

The Dental School at Dundee provides excellent opportunities for undergraduate studies. You can embark upon your journey of being a dental therapist or a dentist.

The undergraduate programs cover:

  • BSc in Oral Health Sciences
  • Bachelor of Dental surgery
  • BmSc (inter calated)
  • Integrated Masters

Nursing

Students during on-placement clinical teaching Nursing can be studied at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Students get a chance to take up inter-disciplinary learning with dental and medical students. They can also work with social work students. The undergraduate programs offer shared learning that pans various nursing fields and are also a reflection of the dynamic face of healthcare in the country. The school offers three different nursing courses: 

 


  • Bsc Child Nursing
  • BSc Mental Health Nursing
  • BSc Adult Nursing

At the Dundee University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing learning and teaching does not take place only in large group sessions. A large number of sessions are conducted in the clinical environment that is interspersed with simulation and e-learning. The University strives at creating the topmost Medical School.
