What will the Community Healthcare Programme involve?

Designed for Year 11 and Sixth Form students, this dynamic programme will give you a fascinating insight into healthcare in a developing country and a customised experience by observing real patients and professionals at work.

You will volunteer in the rural villages in Tanzania, meeting with your mentor and travelling with them to the local community in order to assist with the set-up and running of a pop-up clinic. You will provide a programme specific to each village as outlined by the Minister for Health and support your mentor as they deliver treatment and advice to patients.

Throughout your two week programme you will visit several different locations to observe and support the delivery of essential healthcare in rural, community-focused environments. Not only will you be able to assist with the delivery of healthcare in pop-up village clinics, but you will also be able to immerse yourself in local culture and volunteer in nearby schools.

The programme also includes global health tutorials, to give you a great insight into specific health issues in Tanzania.

You will be assigned a personal mentor to help you get the most from your experience by providing clear guidance and supervision throughout your placement.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain some incredible experience to boost your medical school application and make a real difference to the lives of local communities in Tanzania.
